G'day, mate! I can't resist a gay Irishman - especially a Republican: after all, our most revered radical gay forebear was Oscar Fingal O'Flaherty Wills Wilde. Furthermore, one of the world's first serious music critics was George Bernard Shaw [aka "Corno di Bassetto"]; one of its ten greatest poets was W.B.Yeats; the writer who introduced me to the most original modern prose in English was James Joyce, and I believe that Sam Beckett was the most important playwright of last century. ... ... And us Celts should come together, don't you think? (For all that I'm a second generation Aussie, my dad's parents were both born in Glasgow.)
